Surgery can be performed after six years of age when the ear has reached more than 80% of its size. The incisions are located behind the ear.

Postoperative Care for Otoplasty (Ear Surgery)

  • Swelling can last from 10 to 15 days, and there may be some bruising or discoloration.
    Requires bandages for the first five days and then continuing with a chin strap for one month.
  • Take the prescribed medications (antibiotic and pain reliever) as directed for 7 days.
    Do not stop them without authorization from the doctor.
  • No sun exposure, use dark sunglasses.
  • Apply cold packs locally for the next 48 hours.
  • Sleep with the head slightly elevated.
  • It is very useful to undergo postoperative therapy to accelerate the reduction of swelling.
